Chapter 134: How Is That Possible?

Chapter 134: How Is That Possible?

Mr. Bennet’s voice hinted at his tiredness.

[No clue yet. My sources are searching the entire town. If he is in the town, he will definitely be found]

"And what if he has fled to another country?" Old Master Lenort questioned.

[That is not possible. There is no sign of anyone leaving the barrier. If anyone has, it would have been reported to you, am I wrong?]

Old Master Lenort blinked his eyes, aware that it was true. "Then has he perhaps escaped to somewhere we cannot find—"

[I don’t think so. You never made an announcement of his arrest or made it public, so how could he have known?]

"What if that bastard told him? They are friends, are they not?" Old Master Lenort questioned. He sounded frustrated.

[No, I don’t think the third prince did. Relax, your majesty, the culprit is still in town, and I will definitely find him by tonight]

Old Master Lenort narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Tonight, nothing more than that. If you cannot present him tomorrow, the case will be called off because it is obvious you are not capable of pulling this off. I will do it my own way."

Silent took over on Mr. Bennet’s side. After a few seconds, he spoke. [Alright then, your majesty] The call ended.

—-

Mr. Bennet stared at the screen of his phone.

His face contorted in vexation, and he angrily threw his phone on the sofa. He groaned in annoyance and took soft breaths to calm himself down.

There was no way he was going to lose, not after he had come this far with this case and assured everyone with confidence that he was going to pull it off.

If he is not able to, he would only be embarrassing himself, and that is something he will never do or tolerate. He made a name for himself, and he was not going to taint it. This task will not be the end of him.

He will crush it like he has always crushed his other cases!

A smirk spread across his lips, and he exhaled deeply. He shoved his hands into the pocket of his coat and began to exit his office. He met Aedion, who stood by the door.

"Have they called? Any news yet?" he queried.

Aedion shook his head at him.

"There is none, sir Bennet. I don’t think the culprit is still in this town. If he is, I am sure the IA would have found him."

IA is an organization associated with Mr. Bennet, a.k.a., his source.

"No, Aedion," Mr. Bennet said, shaking his head. "He is still in this town, I know it!"

Aedion did not speak any further. He simply nodded, agreeing with Mr. Bennet.

——

Loui stepped out of their home to stand in front of the mansion.

Olive and the others were inside, so he glanced from his left to his right as though looking out for someone.

"You can come out now," he suddenly said.

Behind the pillar of the gate and the flower wall, a woman stepped out and stood in front of Loui with a smile on her lips. She was young, but not very young.

"Dame." Loui half-smiled at her.

The woman slightly beamed and said, "They have begun to look for you, monsieur." This lady was none other than the woman that Mr. Bennet had found at the apartment when he went looking for Loui.

Before the woman, Loui was not in his real form—he was currently in the form of the human whom he had impersonated.

The apartment was actually given to the lady for free, thus buying her heart and loyalty. Then he went on to the next step of making a deal with her. It wasn’t simple, but he eventually got her to agree.

Loui smirked. He nodded and reached out his hand for a handshake.

"Thank you for your work, dame," he appreciated.

The woman shook her head. "You are very welcome, monsieur. It was a pleasure to help you."

Loui watched her leave, and only when she was out of sight did he switch back to his real appearance. He rested his hands behind his back and began to proceed into the mansion.

He walked through the foyer to the living room and sat down on the chair at the table, where Olive and the rest were seated.

Ava crossed her legs and folded her arms. "You said you had something to tell us, Olive."

Olive glanced at each one of them and nodded.

"I do, and you guys are not going to like it."

Pierre frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Yeah, tell us already. You are killing us with suspense," Lucien said, glowering.

Olive glared at her and averted his gaze.

"Lady Avelina is not in a good condition." He finally spoke.

"What?" Loui was stunned. Not just him, but the others were as well.

Prince vigorously fluttered his eyes and asked, "Quoi?"

"What are you talking about, Olive?" Ava probed.

"Did something happen?" Pierre, who had subconsciously spat out his drink, inquired as he wiped it off.

Olive nodded his head.

"Yes. Don had called me earlier this morning, asking for information on Lady Avelina. He wanted to know what her biggest fear was. At first, I did not understand because getting information from her would mean going into the human world."

Loui and the others gazed intently at him, waiting to hear the rest of his world.

"What happened then?" Pierre asked.

"Well.." Olive hesitated a bit before saying, "He told me about "La Mort dans le Sommeil."

"Huh?" Lucien drew her head back.

"Death in sleep?" She was frowning.

Olive gave a nod. "Apparently, it turned out that Lady Natasha had met with a witch, and they are currently trying to use that method to kill Lady Avelina.

Pierre rapidly flickered his eyes.

"How is that possible?" he questioned. "That method cannot be used unless the culprit presents a photo of the victim."
