Chapter 120: I Can’t Find Anything Wrong With Her
The fluttering feeling in her stomach—they were like something she had never felt before, not even for once.
Avelin turned the tap on. She scooped a palm full of water and splashed her face in the hope of snapping herself back to reality.
She took a long, deep breath and stared at herself in the mirror. Gradually, Avelina could feel the mirror and her surroundings becoming blurry. It was as though she was drowsy.
Perplexed, she shook her head and rubbed her eyes. She looked at the mirror again, but it still appeared blurry.
"What is going on?" Avelina grabbed her head, suddenly feeling as though she would lose consciousness any moment from then on.
She began to stagger off to walk to the door, however, before she could even take three steps, she dropped to the floor unconscious.
...
Draven’s intent gaze was fixed on the bathroom door.
Avelina had been in there for almost thirty minutes now, and he could not understand what was going on. Was she okay? He was not hearing sounds anymore.
He stood up from the bed and advanced towards the door. He knocked. "Avelina, are you okay in there?"
But there was no response from Avelina.
"Avelina." He knocked on the door again, but still no response came.
Draven frowned. He opened the door and stepped inside. He looked around for Avelina, and his gaze landed on the floor. There, Avelina lay unconscious.
"Avelina..." he called in a soft tone. He had yet to understand what was going on.
No response came from Avelina, so he approached her. He squatted down and turned her around, only to dilate his eyes in what one would call fear.
Yes, he was scared at that moment. Avelina was not conscious, and he saw the scene of his wife and son flash before his eyes. The first thought that came to his mind was that the same incident was repeating itself.
Quickly, he grabbed Avelina and pulled her into his arms. "Avelina, Avelina, what’s wrong with you? What is going on?"
He asked, seeking an answer from her, but Avelina was not responding. He caressed her hair and tucked a few strands behind her ear. He was confused, unsure of what to do.
"Santino!!" he shouted.
Santino came rushing through the bedroom into the bathroom. At the sight of Avelina, who was unconscious in Draven’s arms, he stopped in his tracks, shocked to the core.
"Y-young master."
Draven glanced at him. "I don’t know what happened. She was fine! She was really fine, and I don’t—"
"Young master, we need to call a doctor. I think something may be wrong with her. Maybe she is sick," Santino said, kneeling beside him.
Draven flickered his eyes. "S-sick? But I would have known if she was. And I am sure she would have told me if she was sick." He was heavily baffled.
"Young master, let me get a doctor. Some human things could be wrong with her," Santino suggested and hurried out before Draven could even reply.
Draven looked at Avelina’s pale face. He stood up to his feet, lifted her into his arms, and exited the bathroom. He made his way to the bed and carefully laid her down.
He covered her with the duvet and gently began to caress her forehead. Her temperature was quite fine to him, so what exactly could be wrong? She was still breathing, and her body was not burning enough for him to say she could be really sick.
Clueless, Draven pinched between his brows. He has never felt this worried in his entire life, at least not for anyone. For a moment, he thought his soul had fled his body. He felt...fear. Something he had never felt before.
He felt his body shaking at that moment, and he couldn’t seem to move his body either.
He tightly squeezed Avelina’s hand and sat down on the one-man sofa close to the bed. Throughout the whole time, his gaze was fixed on Avelina, and not for once did he look away. Every now and then, he would touch her nose to know if she was still breathing and listen for her heartbeat to check if it was beating.
The door of the room abruptly pushed open. Santino walked in with a middle-aged man following behind him.
The middle-aged man was a blondie. His hair was quite short and curly. He wore transparent medicated glasses that shielded his deep blue eyes, and his stature was pleasantly lanky to the eyes.
"Young master, it took me a while to find him. My apologies," Santino reported. He was sweating, making it very obvious that he had probably run past his limit in search of a doctor.
The doctor glanced at Draven. "Bonsoir, Votre Altesse."
Draven did not utter a word. He was vigilantly gazing at the middle-aged doctor. He needed to make sure he was not a threat before letting him touch Avelina.
"May I take a look at her?" the doctor inquired.
Draven frowned, but Santino assured him that it was alright, so he stepped away. The doctor walked over. He sat down on a stool close to the bed and grabbed Avelina’s hand.
"Does she eat well?" he asked.
Draven nodded. "She does. Why do you ask? Is something wrong?"
"No." The doctor shook his head. "I can’t tell yet, but her face is pale. Improper eating or malnutrition can lead to exhaustion, thus the probability of her fainting."
Draven furrowed his brows. That was impossible. He was very sure that he fed her well. I mean, she had even gained weight compared to when he first met her. It was just not possible.
"Hmmm..." The doctor glowered and turned around to look at Draven.
"I can’t find anything wrong with her," he said.
Draven was bewildered. "What do you mean?"
"She looks fine, and she appears very healthy. I don’t understand what is wrong with her either. Her temperature is very good, including her heartbeat as well. She has lots of blood, so I will not say it is a case of blood loss. I can’t tell why she is unconscious," the doctor clarified.
Draven has never felt so confused in his whole life. If she wasn’t sick or anything, then what is the problem?
He ran his fingers through his hair in a bit of frustration and took a deep breath.
"Your Highness." The doctor stood up to his feet. "Do you perhaps think it may not be health-related?"
