Chapter 113: What Have You Come Here For?

Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Natasha was the epitome of beauty. She was near perfection in the eyes of humans.

These were how much the creatures of the night had been blessed. They had beauty at a level far greater than humans. They were works of art—creatures near perfection. Beings, quite above mankind.

"Done!" The three maids immediately moved away from her.

Natasha examined herself through the mirror and smiled in satisfaction. She advanced to the door to leave, but she was stopped by Ryan, who had walked into the room at the same time. She raised her head and looked at him.

Ryan scrutinized her from head to toe and scrunched his forehead in perplexity. Where was she going, dressed so extravagantly?

Curious, he asked, "Where are you going?"

Natasha squinted her long, dark lashes at him. She cleared her throat and stuttered a bit as she replied, "Um, I- I am going to see...my father."

"Your father? Why?" Ryan was very confused.

Natasha was not on very good terms with her father, and in so many years of their marriage, she had only visited her father twice. Why all of a sudden? Could something have possibly happened?

Natasha darted her gaze from one place to another. It was as though she were thinking of a story to cook up. "Well, he called for me. He wants to discuss something with me."

"Discuss something with you?" Ryan queried. "What is it?"

"Um, it’s a family matter, and I cannot tell you. I am very sorry, my love." Natasha looked him softly in the eyes.

Ryan was obviously not happy with her response, but he knew that he could not probe anymore. Natasha would never tell him, as long as she was set on not doing so. That was one thing about his wife that he disliked. She was quite a secretive woman.

"I see..." He nodded at her. "If anything goes wrong, call me immediately."

Natasha smiled at him. "I will." She went on her tiptoe to leave a soft kiss on his lips.

"Bye-bye." She left the room while wiggling her fingers at him.

Ryan could only stare at her fading figure and the maids who hurried after her.

...

Entering the car, Natasha scoffed in annoyance and sat down on the chair.

"You know where to go, right?" she said to the chauffeur, who was seated in the driver’s seat.

The chauffeur nodded. "Yes, my lady."

He turned on the engine and took a few moments before driving off onto the road. Natasha relaxed back on the seat and let out a soft breath.

Her father? No way! She has no business with a coward who doesn’t care if she exists or not. As of that moment, she was going somewhere else to do something very important.

She would have told Ryan, but she was very sure that he would be against it, so why bother? She will do this without anyone’s notice, and no one will ever find out.

A smirk gradually transpired on her face.

Twenty to thirty minutes passed, and the chauffeur slowed down the car.

"My lady, we have arrived," he said.

Natasha lifted her eyes to glimpse the tree surrounding them. A distant glint flickered in her pupils, and she pushed the door open by herself to get down.

As she began to approach the moderate house amidst the area a bit distant from where she was, the air grew thick with a sense of enchantment. Above the house were flocks of crows flying in a circular formation. The driver followed vigilantly behind her, watching out for any form of creature that may be threatening.

The gnarled trees surrounding the dwelling seemed to move with every wave of the heavy breeze.

Natasha hesitated for a moment. With each step she took, she couldn’t help but sense this heavy feeling weighing down on her. It wasn’t a good feeling.

As she reached the crooked door to knock on it, she gulped. With a creak, the door swung open on its own, revealing a dimly lit interior filled with shelves of flickering candles, books, and ingredients.

"Wait out here," Natasha said to her chauffeur.

"Yes, my lady." The chauffeur nodded.

Stepping inside, Natasha frantically glanced around. She abruptly jolted in fear, the second the door shut suddenly behind her, She clutched her chest and took deep breaths to calm herself down.

The inside of this house was quiet. There was no one around, and she had no idea what to do. She could not glimpse the person she came for anywhere.

Unsure of what to do, she began to look around the small, accommodating interior. Her gaze ceased on a particular shelf with tons of dark-colored books. She took a step forward to touch it, but the sudden snap of a finger had her flinching, causing her to bump into a table.

The glasses on the table fell off to hit the floor, however, as though they had been grabbed, they suddenly began to float midair.

"What are you doing here?" A female voice sounded.

Natasha’s body shivered at the voice, and she lifted her head to glimpse a woman who stood a bit far from her. She narrowed her eyes with the intention of examining her.

The woman had a mesmerizing allure. Her lustrous, fiery red hair cascaded like waves of flame down her shoulders. She had sparkly light reddish eyes, and she was clad in a midnight black gown adorned with intricate patterns.

Her demeanor was not very friendly, and with every step, she took towards Natasha, a faint exotic smell of herbs and spices filled the air. Her hand was extended out as she was releasing a force that held the glasses in place as well as putting them back on the desk.

She stood in front of Natasha and gazed into her eyes.

"What have you come here for?" she questioned once again.

Natasha furiously batted her lashes and straightened up with an awkward smile on her face. "Oh, I came to see you."

The woman frowned.

"Why would a royal want to see me?" She could already discern that Natasha was royalty due to her extravagant dress and the jewelry on her.
