Chapter 104: Why Is Your Face So Flushed?
Avelina was stunned.
"Huh?" She raised her head to look at him. "How do you mean?" she asked.
"I can rent out the whole place and they would all be gone," Draven casually said.
Avelina did not doubt one bit that this man could do it. She cannot even fathom the limit of his wealth.
"No, no. Please don’t do that." She didn’t want to be the reason why they would all have to leave. After all, just like her, they came there to have a nice day.
Draven inquired, "Are you sure?"
"Mhm." Avelina nodded.
"Okay." Draven walked over to a vacant seat. He gestured to the chair opposite him, but Avelina grabbed the chair and dropped it beside him.
She sat next to him and cleared her throat before slowly wrapping her arms around his arm.
Draven was staring at her, confused. Avelina turned and raised her eyes to meet his gaze. She smiled charmingly at him.
Draven could only shake his head in amusement. He tenderly patted her head and assured her, "You’ll be fine."
A bit far from where they were, at another table, two women sat. Their attention was fixed on Avelina, who was reading, and Draven, who was doing nothing but just reading along with her.
"Is that not the third prince?" the first woman asked her friend.
The latter replied, "It is."
"Do you think that is his rumored wife? The one he had married recently?"
"Definitely," the first woman affirmed. "I heard she is a human, and that girl seated with him is a human."
The latter covered her mouth. "Poor girl. It will only be a little time before she falls to her death, just like his late wife and son."
"I agree." The first woman nodded. She tilted her head and scratched her temple. "But looking at them, I am not sure...if that is the case. They look sort of adorable, don’t you think?"
The latter agreed but changed her mind. "It could be a facade, for all I know."
The first woman looked at her. "A facade?"
She peeked at Draven and Avelina. "You do have a point. It could be so. She could possibly be forced to pretend."
Draven, who could hear their murmurs right from his seat, glanced at them.
Making eye contact with him, the two women jolted in their seats. They rapidly squinted their lashes and glanced at each other.
"He looked at us!" the first woman spoke. Her voice hinted at her sudden fear.
"I am leaving." The latter immediately stood up from her seat and left. The other followed behind her.
Draven, who watched them leave, furrowed his brows. He appeared slightly bewildered. What did they leave for? It’s not like he threatened or said anything to them. I mean, he is used to the rumors, so it wasn’t a big deal.
"Is something wrong?" Avelina, who had averted her attention from the book she was reading, asked.
Draven shook his head at her. "No."
"Are you sure?" Avelina had noticed his countenance changed, so she felt like something was wrong.
Draven gave a nod. He looked at the waitress, who had walked over to them.
"Monsieur, Madame, what can I get for you?" The waitress had a cheerful smile on her face.
Draven inquired from Avelina. "What do you want?"
"Uh..." Avelina was not sure of what to say. She doesn’t even know what they serve.
With an awkward smile on her face, she propped her face close to Draven’s ear and whispered, "Draven, what do they serve?"
Draven replied, "Croissant, pain au chocolat, orange juice, and coffee, specifically un café."
"Oh... I see." Avelina nodded her head. She looked at the waitress with a charming smile on her lips. "I would like a croissant with orange juice."
"How many croissants will you like to order?" Draven asked.
"Uh..." Avelina thought about it for a few moments before raising her three fingers. Her face was turned to the other side, as though she were embarrassed to ask for three croissants.
Draven did not understand why. He simply nodded at the waitress and ordered a pain au chocolat with coffee for himself.
As soon as the waitress left, he grabbed Avelina’s cheek and turned her head to have her look at him. "Is something wrong?" he inquired, a bit concerned.
Avelina furiously waved her hands at him.
"No, no." She was smiling awkwardly with a reddish face.
"Why is your face so flushed? Are you perhaps...embarrassed?" Draven’s forehead was scrunched, quite displeased. What was there to be embarrassed about?
"Heh?" Avelina drew back, a bit surprised. She furiously shook her head at him. "No, no, of-of course not."
"You’re lying. You are embarrassed. May I ask why?" Draven probed. He wanted to know.
Avelina blinked her eyes and lowered her head.
"It’s not what you think. It’s just that I am not used to getting things done for me or given to me, and you have been doing a lot of that for me." She smiled at him.
"Oh..." Draven took a few seconds to understand. He tipped his head slightly to the side and stared at her face.
"It is okay. You don’t have to hold back from asking me for anything. I do not think there is anything in this world that I cannot get for you or do for you, so long as it’s doable and obtainable," he said.
Avelina turned her face to meet his gaze. She was silently staring at him, not sure what to say.
Draven, on the other hand, was slowly flickering his eyes, unable to avert his gaze. Her hazel eyes were suddenly so pretty and lovely. He felt sort of lost in it.
Avelina swallowed hard, and for a moment there, she could hear her heart pounding in her ears. Her heart was beating so fast, it felt like it could thump right out of her chest. Her cheeks gradually flushed red, and she tightly gripped her dress, not able to comprehend what was happening.
Why were they staring at each other for this long? They couldn’t even notice the other customers or hear anyone anymore. It was as though they were lost in a different world.
The silence was finally broken when the waitress dropped a tray containing their orders on the table.
"Three croissants and an orange juice for you, Madame." The waitress smiled at Avelina.
