Chapter 103: You Don’t Want It?

Valentine ordered for himself as well before proceeding to reply,

"I owe you for last time, so I’d thought it would be nice if I treated you. But...I don’t think I can do that now. You already ordered."

"How did you know I would be here?" Olive asked.

Valentine began to laugh. It looked like he didn’t want to say anything.

This made Olive very curious, so he furrowed his brows. "Valentine, how did you know I would be here?"

Valentine shrugged.

"I don’t think you want to know. Or rather, you will not be happy to find out."

Now, Olive was sure that he had done something that would be unforgiving on his part. He frowned.

"Spit it!"

Valentine shook his head. "No."

"Valentine! Spit it out! What did you do?" Olive questioned.

"Well..." Valentine began to explain with his arms spread innocently, "I may have intentionally stalked you a few times to find out if you come here frequently or not." He had an awkward smile on his face.

"Wow, you look really mad," he commented at the sight of Olive, whose face had begun to turn red.

"You! You piece of sh*t!" Olive grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him up from his seat.

Their faces were just a few inches apart, and Valentine could feel his cold breath fanning his face.

He smiled widely while darting his eyes around. "Sorry..."

Olive’s eyes twitched furiously. He was restraining him from punching him and breaking his nose.

"Hey, I did say you wouldn’t like it! You insisted!" Valentine shrugged as he said.

It took every ounce of restraint in Olive before he managed to let go of him. He sat down on his chair and took a deep breath to calm himself down.

Valentine stared at him, a bit guilty. He went ahead to clarify, "Listen, I didn’t have any bad intentions. I just wanted to be sure that I would meet you here."

"Je suis désolé," he apologized.

Olive gazed at him for a few moments before wiping off the annoyed look on his face.

"No more stalking me, understand?"

"Qui! Understood!" Valentine nodded at him. His face was filled with smiles.

[6:00 pm]

Draven took a turn down the road.

Avelina, who was seated in the car with him, looked out the window, her eyes admiring the town.

"Take." Draven’s voice suddenly sounded

Avelina glanced at him and lowered her gaze to his hand that was extended towards her. He was holding...a lollipop.

She looked at Draven. "This is..."

"You don’t want it?" Draven glanced at her.

Avelina shook her head at him. "No, that is not it, it’s just..." She took the lollipop from him.

"It’s just what?" Draven asked.

"Well." Avelina explained, "I didn’t think you lick this."

"Huh? Why?" Draven was perplexed.

Avelina scratched her hair. "I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just that...you don’t look like the type to do so if that makes sense. Also, I have never seen you with one."

"Oh, you’re wrong," Draven shook his head as he said. "I always had one on me. I just never do it in front of you."

Avelina frowned. "Why?"

"Because you will judge me, just like you are judging me now." Draven was direct with his words.

Avelina appeared taken aback. "I am not judging you!"

"Yes, you are." Draven peered at her.

"I am not!" Avelina glared at him. "I was just surprised, that is all!"

Draven looked at her for a few minutes before half-smiling. "Okay."

Avelina relaxed back on the chair and folded her arms. "Why do you lick this, though? I am genuinely curious."

"Because I like it," Draven replied. "I love sweet things, Avelina. Deserts, and so on. I prefer them more than actual food."

Avelina was clutching onto her chest. "I fear for your heart, Draven."

"Why?" Draven inquired, perplexed.

Avelina responded, "Diabetes, Draven."

Draven arched his brow and glanced at her, amused.

"Avelina, you seem to forget a lot that I am not a human. Why?"

It was only then that Avelina was hit by realization. "Oh..."

She quickly buried her face in her palms, a bit embarrassed. "I am so sorry, haha."

"You don’t have to be. It’s quite amusing and confusing. I do not see a reason why you would often forget I am not human," Draven said. "Is there something human about me?" he asked.

Avelina lifted her head and looked at him. She was not saying a word but was rather thinking.

Was there something about him she found human-like? His heart...perhaps? She was not sure.

"I don’t know. I can’t tell," she answered.

"I see." Draven nodded and stopped the car.

"We are here."

Avelina glanced at the cafe right in front of them. It was quite huge but looked very cozy.

Draven, who had opened the door for her, unbuckled her seat belt for her and grabbed her hand. He pulled her out and shut the door.

Avelina looked a bit afraid, and he could hear her taking deep breaths to calm herself down.

"You don’t have to be afraid. No one would dare touch you unless they were courting death. I would send them to their graves before they do." Draven patted her head, assuring her.

He tightly held her hand and began to walk her into the cafe. The minute the door was pushed open, all eyes fell on them.

The noses of the customers twitched. A human! They could instantly smell a human scent!

Their eyes had narrowed vehemently, confirming the fact that if Draven was not there, Avelina would be swamped before she even knew it.

Discomforted by their unwavering gazes, Avelina wrapped her arms around Draven’s arm and shifted closer to him. She grabbed hold of his coat, not letting go.

Draven lowered his head to glance at her. "It’s okay; no one will hurt you."

"I know, but I can feel chills running down my spine. It’s as if I am standing in the center of a lion’s den," Avelina said, hoping that would be enough to make him understand.

"I see." Draven nodded. "Do you want me to make them all go away?"
