A Game Of Chess With A Vampire
Chapter 100: Are You Sure?

Chapter 100: Are You Sure?

Draven stepped towards her and squatted down to her level.

"Avelina, do you want anything? I really don’t know what to do. If I could make it hurt, I would. I am really sorry. I didn’t mean to."

"Is there anything you want me to do for you or to get for you?" he asked.

Avelina was a bit surprised.

"Uh..." She scratched her neck, stuttering. "Well, not really. I’m just hungry."

"Oh." Draven broadened his eyes, realizing that they hadn’t had breakfast earlier that morning. "I forgot! Why didn’t you tell me?"

"Eh, it’s not your fault. I didn’t feel hungry." Avelina chuckled softly.

"Still, you should have told me." Draven face palmed himself and straightened up. "Wait for me. Let me bathe, okay?"

Avelina nodded at him and watched him leave. She crossed her legs and folded her arms with a serious look.

A few minutes passed, and her eyes darted around at a sudden buzz sound. She immediately scowled.

It can’t be that he failed to kill it. Avelina was a bit in disbelief. So all that was for nothing?

She did not know whether to cry or laugh. The expression on her face darkened the second she felt the mosquito perch atop her cheek.

Without a second thought, Avelina slapped herself, eventually killing the mosquito. She scoffed as she wiped it off with a slightly proud look.

She yawned and playfully tapped her fingers on her forehead while patiently waiting for Draven. Only when she heard the slight creak of the door did she turn her head.

Draven, who was slipping his hands into his hoodie, strolled over to her. He adjusted his clothing and glanced at her.

"Let’s go," he said to her.

Avelina stood up from the sofa. She slipped her feet into her slippers, and Draven, who had loosely tied his hair, grabbed his glasses from the table.

He held Avelina’s hand, and they exited the room to make their way to the pavilion.

Avelina excitedly rubbed her hands together with a hungry look as she sat down on the chair. Draven took his seat opposite her and crossed his legs.

The maids in waiting filled the table with delicacies and specially prepared hot coffee for Draven. It was his usual routine.

Avelina’s mouth watered, and she gulped continuously as she gazed at the food, patiently waiting for the maids to shift away.

Draven, who was staring at her, couldn’t help but smile.

"Eat," he said to her.

Avelina lifted her eyes to glance at him before taking her spoon. She cleared her throat and gradually dug in.

With his balled hand supporting his cheek, Draven silently watched her eat. His eyes were specifically fixed on her puffed cheeks. He couldn’t help but wonder if she was stuffing food in there before chewing on it.

Now that he thinks about it, he has only just realized how soft her cheeks are. Was that why he always felt like touching and pulling them?

"Draven!" Avelina snapped her fingers at his face, knocking him out of his drifting thoughts.

Draven blinked his eyes. "What is it?"

"What are you thinking about? I have been talking to you for a few moments now, but you seem so absent-minded," Avelina said while chewing on her food. "Tell me."

Draven shook his head at her.

"It’s nothing."

"Liar." Avelina raised her brows at him.

Draven slowly beamed at her. "It’s really nothing. I was just thinking of how adorable and soft your cheeks are."

Avelina was a bit stunned. "My...cheeks?" She pointed at her cheek, quite baffled. This was the first time someone had ever told her such a thing. I mean, she is aware she has a bit of a plumpy cheek, but this was the first time someone complimented it.

Draven nodded and reached over to grab her cheeks. "See? Very soft."

Avelina flickered her eyes and said, "The more you pull on it, the bigger it gets."

"Oh," Draven exclaimed, surprised. He quickly cupped her cheeks and gently massaged them before letting go. "It won’t get any bigger now, although...I am quite fond of it. You do not mind, do you?"

Avelina was speechless. All she could do was blink before smiling. "I...don’t."

"Good." Draven sipped from his cup of coffee.

"Aren’t you going to eat?" Avelina asked, suddenly realizing that he hadn’t touched anything except his coffee.

Draven replied, "No."

"Why?" Avelina wrinkled her brows.

Draven shrugged and dropped the empty cup of coffee on the table.

"I don’t feel hungry. You know, we don’t really rely on food. What we are mostly hungry for is blood. Food is just there to aid a bit in strength, and it’s tasty."

"Ahh... I see." Avelina puckered her lips. "Do you mind if we play the card games now?"

Draven shook his head. "Not at all. Are you full?"

"Yes." Avelina nodded at him.

Draven had the maids clear out the table. He ordered Santino to get the box he had wanted to give to her earlier.

Santino arrived a few short minutes later with the box in his hands. He placed it on the table. Avelina’s eyes lit up in excitement as she gazed at the brown-colored box.

"Check it. I got different types so that you can choose according to your preference," Draven said to her.

Avelin widely smiled at him. She rubbed her hands together and opened the box. Inside the box were sets of different games one could play during his or her leisure time.

She searched through them and found the card game she was more interested in. She grabbed it and shut the box.

Santino took the box off the table and waited by the side.

Avelina cracked her knuckles and shuffled the cards. Draven watched with interest. He has never seen such a game before.

"Let me explain the rules for you," Avelina went ahead to clarify.

Draven nodded, grasping a complete understanding of the game. "It sounds easy."

"Are you sure?" Avelina was grinning.
